About Thomas P. DiNapoli
Thomas P. DiNapoli has been New York State comptroller since February 2007, when the State Legislature chose him for the post, and voters elected him to full terms in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. He was born on Long Island, raised in Albertson and lives in Nassau County. He graduated from Mineola public schools, earned a history degree from Hofstra University and holds a master's degree from The New School. He worked about 10 years in the telecommunications industry. At 18 he was elected a trustee of the Mineola Board of Education, and he later represented Nassau County's 16th District in the State Assembly for 20 years, chairing several committees. His campaign says he will keep auditing state and local spending, pursuing officials who misuse public money, managing the state pension fund and returning unclaimed funds to residents. It also lists affordability and environmental protection among his priorities.
