About Bruce A. Blakeman

Bruce A. Blakeman has been Nassau County executive since winning the office in November 2021, and his campaign says he won a second term in 2025. He was born in Oceanside, grew up in Valley Stream and lives in Atlantic Beach with his wife, Segal. He graduated from Arizona State University and California Western School of Law and is an attorney. He earlier served as presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature, as a Hempstead town councilman from 2015 to 2021, and as a commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey after the Sept. 11 attacks. His running mate, Todd Hood, grew up in Oneida, spent more than 20 years with the Syracuse Police Department and was elected Madison County sheriff in 2018. The campaign says the ticket's priorities are public safety, property tax relief and opposing sanctuary policies, and it points to county police hiring and tax levels during Blakeman's tenure.
