Carthage man dies after UTV crash in Lewis County
State police said a 61-year-old Carthage man died Thursday after the UTV he was operating was struck by a pickup truck on Liberty Road in Montague.
A 61-year-old Carthage man died Thursday after the UTV he was operating was struck by a pickup truck on Liberty Road in the town of Montague, state police said. The crash was reported at about 5:06 p.m.
Police said the man was trying to help tow another disabled UTV when the collision occurred. His UTV overturned, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver and the operator of a third UTV were not injured and remained at the scene. State police said field sobriety testing found no signs of impairment, and the crash remains under investigation. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and Lewis County Search and Rescue assisted.
