Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election begins Saturday, Oct. 24, at two locations in St. Lawrence County. Voters can cast ballots at the Potsdam Central School Annex, 68 Lawrence Ave., or the Dobisky Center, 100 Riverside Ave., in Ogdensburg.
The St. Lawrence County Board of Elections lists early voting hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 24, 25, 27, 29, 30 and 31, and Nov. 1. The sites will remain open until 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 and 28. The early voting locations are accessible to voters with physical disabilities.
Voters who cast a ballot during the early voting period cannot vote again on Election Day. People who requested an absentee or early mail ballot cannot vote on a voting machine on Election Day, according to election information.
The ballot includes the 21st Congressional District, New York governor and lieutenant governor, state comptroller, the 48th and 49th state Senate districts, and the 116th and 117th Assembly districts. County races include all 15 legislative seats and the county coroner position, along with town and village contests.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Voters can use the New York State voter lookup tool to find their polling place.
The state Board of Elections says voter registration applications and requests for absentee or early mail ballots submitted by mail or online must be received by Oct. 24. In-person absentee ballot requests are due Nov. 2. Mail ballots must be postmarked or returned in person by Nov. 3; postmarked ballots must arrive by Nov. 10.
The St. Lawrence County Board of Elections office is at 80 State Highway 310 in Canton and can be reached at 315-379-2202 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Election information and poll worker applications are available through the county Board of Elections and the New York State Board of Elections.
