The Gouverneur Breast and Ovarian Cancer Fund has raised more than $355,000 in 2026 and distributed more than $165,000 to breast and ovarian cancer patients in the North Country, the organization said.
More than $325,000 of the fundraising total was tied to the fund’s 25th annual walk, held Oct. 3 at Gouverneur Village Park. The organization said it uses the money to assist patients in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis and Franklin counties.
The fund’s first walk was held in 2001. The organization became the Gouverneur Breast Cancer Fund in 2014 and added ovarian cancer to its name in 2022. It is operated by a volunteer committee.
Planning is underway for the 2027 walk, which is scheduled for Oct. 2, 2027. The fund accepts donations through its website.
