A 24-year-old Lowville woman was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after police allegedly found a 7-year-old alone in an apartment, according to the Lowville Police Department. The child was reported to be safe with a neighbor when officers arrived.

Police also alleged that conditions inside the apartment could have endangered the welfare of children. The charges are returnable to Lowville Town Court, and the case was referred to the Department of Social Services.
