Ogdensburg expects $265,000 increase in retirement costs
Ogdensburg officials say changes to New York’s pension system are expected to add about $265,000 to the city’s retirement costs this year.
Ogdensburg is expecting about $265,000 in additional retirement costs this year after changes to New York’s pension system, city officials said. The expense was not included in the city’s current budget, leaving officials to determine how to cover it.
The changes affect employees covered by the state’s Tier 6 system and retirement programs for police and fire personnel. City Comptroller Angela Gray said about 55 city employees participate in Tier 6 through the Employees’ Retirement System, while about 30 participate in the Police and Fire Retirement System. The anticipated increase also reflects other personnel costs, including managerial positions added through the 2025-26 budget process.
